Thursday’s USDA report surprised most people with corn planting acres as well as stocks up higher than even trade estimates. Estimating planted acres at 94.15 million, which is up a good 1.5 million from expectations. Soybean acreage is also up but not as dramatically. Corn stockpiles are also higher than expected which has dragged down… CLICK HERE to Read More

Jan 12th, 2016 USDA Report Updated

The USDA report had a few surprised for the traders.  Corn yield was lowered further than analysts thought, as was soybean yield.  (168.4, a full bushel drop in corn yield, and a .3 bu drop in soybean yield).  That said, ending stocks were not lowered as thought for corn so while the impact was positive… CLICK HERE to Read More

We hope… CLICK HERE to Read More

USDA Report Summary and commentary July 10th, 2015

US corn… CLICK HERE to Read More

A common topic this year around the coffee pot at Haggerty Creek has been corn test weights and their in-field variability. Oct 10th USDA Report Summary

My comment is that this is report where everyone knew what was going to happen. USDA pegged corn yield at 174.2, up from 171.7 in September.  Soybean yield up to 47.1 bu from 46.6   All in all a big crop.  That, said, the markets have been positive before and following.   That said –… CLICK HERE to Read More
